What HaterPicks Is

HaterPicks is an Australian betting analytics service from HaterPicks Pty Ltd, and it also sells its data as an API. One versioned endpoint, /api/v1/odds, returns odds from the major Australian bookmakers, merged into one row per market and line. Stale prices are dropped before the response goes out. Odds are decimal, and times are ISO 8601 in UTC.

The API is a separate product from the HaterPicks app. The app's player projections do not come through the API, according to the HaterPicks docs. What you get is the bookmaker price data, live scores, and on higher plans fair prices, arbitrage and same-game multi quotes. HaterPicks says it is not a bookmaker and never takes bets, and each price links back to the bookmaker.

Coverage and Markets

The odds feed takes a sport filter. The docs list AFL, NRL, NBL, NBA, NFL, soccer and horse racing, plus player props. Bookmaker coverage is Sportsbet, Ladbrokes, Neds, PointsBet, TAB, Betr, BetRight, Unibet, Dabble, Next2Go and Pinnacle (checked November 2026). HaterPicks notes that books and markets vary by feed.

The feeds split by plan:

  • Free: live scores for 120+ leagues and game lines (head-to-head, line and total).
  • Starter: player props on /api/v1/odds and /api/v1/props, selection links, and live WNBL and NBL1 box scores.
  • Pro: /api/v1/ev for fair prices and edge percentage, /api/v1/arbs for arbitrage, and /api/v1/sgm-quote for same-game multis.

The docs describe no closing-line or price-history endpoint, and the API plans cover no US sportsbook feed. For a US book comparison or for backtests, pair HaterPicks with a historical odds source.

The Fair Price and Arbitrage Feeds

HaterPicks adds three analysis endpoints on Pro and Business. /api/v1/ev returns player-prop prices with the model's fair probability, fair price and edge percentage, plus the best bookmaker and price. /api/v1/arbs lists cross-bookmaker arbitrage with the price and bookmaker for each leg. /api/v1/sgm-quote prices a same-game multi of two or more legs across bookmakers.

Those feeds suit people building tipping bots, Discord alerts and spreadsheet tools, which is who HaterPicks names on its plan cards. The fair price comes from HaterPicks' own model, so you should check its edge figures against your own before you stake on them.

HaterPicks Pricing and the Free Plan

The Free plan is permanent. It needs no card and has no expiry, and it gives you 1,000 calls a month at up to 30 calls a minute. Paid plans, in Australian dollars with GST included and billed monthly (checked November 2026):

  • Starter, A$29: 50,000 calls a month, 60 a minute, player props.
  • Pro, A$79: 250,000 calls, 120 a minute, fair prices, arbitrage and same-game multi quotes.
  • Business, A$249: 1,000,000 calls, 300 a minute, and commercial display rights.

One request to a feed counts as one call, and a filtered request such as ?sport=afl is still one call with a much smaller response. Business is the plan to pick if you show the prices on a public site or app that earns money. Bookmaker trading teams can ask about a desk feed from A$2,500 a month. Getting an API Key

Create a free HaterPicks account at haterpicks.app/developer. You can sign in with Apple, Google or an email address. The Free plan is permanent, takes no card and has no expiry (checked November 2026). It gives you 1,000 calls a month and up to 30 calls a minute.

Keys start with hp_live_. Send yours as Authorization: Bearer hp_live_... or in an x-api-key header. The docs say to keep the key on your server, because anyone who holds it spends your allowance. You change plan and watch usage from the same /developer page.

A First Request in Python

The sample below calls /api/v1/odds with sport=nba, the example in the HaterPicks docs (checked November 2026). The Free plan returns game lines only. Each row in data carries a matchup, a line and a prices object keyed by bookmaker, with decimal prices. The response also has a count and a generated_at time.

import os
import requests

resp = requests.get(
    "https://www.haterpicks.app/api/v1/odds",
    params={"sport": "nba"},
    headers={"Authorization": "Bearer " + os.environ["HATERPICKS_API_KEY"]},
    timeout=30,
)
resp.raise_for_status()
body = resp.json()
print(body["count"], body["generated_at"])
row = body["data"][0]
print(row["matchup"], row["line"], list(row["prices"]))

We have not run this call with a key. The odds feed is gzipped, and requests unpacks that for you.

Rate Limits, Docs and SDKs

The per-minute limit grows with the plan: 30 calls on Free, 60 on Starter, 120 on Pro and 300 on Business. Monthly allowances are 1,000, 50,000, 250,000 and 1,000,000 calls (checked November 2026). One request to any /api/v1 feed counts as one call, and the keyless /api/v1 index never counts.

A 429 comes in two kinds. The per-minute kind carries a Retry-After header. The monthly kind returns quota_exceeded: true and a resets_at date, the 1st of next month in UTC. Every keyed response also carries X-Quota-Remaining and RateLimit headers, so you can pace calls before you hit either.

HaterPicks publishes an OpenAPI 3.1 spec and its API docs, including a versioning policy: v1 only adds fields, and a breaking change ships as /api/v2 with at least 6 months of overlap. The docs name no official SDK, status page or changelog. Support is contact@haterpicks.com.au.

Who HaterPicks Is For

HaterPicks fits builders who want Australian bookmaker prices without scraping them.

  • Tipping and alert bots for AFL, NRL and NBL that compare Sportsbet, TAB, Ladbrokes and the rest.
  • Spreadsheet punters who pull one JSON feed into a sheet and track the best price.
  • Tool builders who want fair prices, arbitrage and same-game multi quotes from one key.

Only the Business plan carries commercial display rights, so a site or app that earns money from the prices needs it. If you need prices from the US books too, add a second source from the API directory.

Verdict

HaterPicks does a clear job: Australian bookmaker odds in one tidy JSON shape, with a free plan you can use today and a price ladder that ends at A$249. The docs are a pleasure to read, with plan limits, error bodies and quota headers laid out in tables, an OpenAPI spec and a written versioning promise.

It is a young API with no public SDK and no streaming on the self-serve plans, so a bot polls instead of listening. For an Australian betting project, that is a fair trade. Make a free key and call one sport to see the books it carries.
